WHAT DID WE DO & HOW?
The only stipulation the Client had was that the cards had an aeroplane/aeronautical theme as Mick is a longhaul Captain. The Client had mentioned the possibility of a plane illustration, which we considered. However, we decided to firstly provide the client with a few non-obvious, more creative options for their consideration. Our Graphic Designer presented them with 3 initial concepts and they loved them all, and not a plane in sight (see Lorriane’s initial reaction below!). They chose the arrivals board concept which we created in advance of the birth and filled in the detail and added the photo when their gorgeous baby boy arrived. It was an honour to have been selected for this important and very personal assignment, and we are delighted to have also been asked to take some photos of their new addition in early 2017.
OUTCOME & FEEDBACK
A print ready pdf version of the announcement postcard was provided to the Client and the postcards themselves were posted direct from the printer to the Client. They were very pleased with the cards, but given that the baby is still only 2 weeks at the time of writing this case study unsurprisingly they have not had the chance to write us a full review as yet. This was Lorraine’s reaction to the initial design concepts though:-

case study: graphic Design - Baby announcement cards
Lorraine contacted IDEAlee to see whether we could help her with a combined baby announcement, thank you & Christmas card. She was 8 months pregnant at this point so time was of the essence! She needed a short run of A6 sized cards.
We had a number of concepts in mind that could include these 3 messages, however the brief was adjusted in the early stages as the baby was due only a week before Christmas and after discussion it was decided that to: wait for the baby to arrive; get the baby photo we needed to include on the announcement; get the cards printed; write the cards and get them delivered before Christmas, would not be feasible with a newborn baby to look after. Christmas cards were written in advance of the birth and the brief became 100 A6 postcard announcement cards to be placed in the Christmas cards.
